Conclusion: The Evolution of the Rifle
Beginning with the invention of the Kentucky Long Rifle during the 1730's, the rifle has experienced great change and innovation. It has played a key role in helping American Soldiers on the battlefields in America's Wars. The Kentucky Long Rifle was influential in the defeat of the British in the Revolutionary War and the U.S Musket 1795 helped the United States become victorious in the War of 1812. The creation of the .58 Caliber Springfield Rifle Musket catapulted the Union to victory in the Civil War. The Winchester Model 1873 helped American citizens conquer the west. During World War I, the M1903 Springfield assisted soldiers in trench warfare. During WWII the invention of The Tommy Gun and M1 Garand helped the American forces conquer the Nazis and Japanese. In Vietnam, The M-16A1 and the M60 GPMG protected American soldiers against the strong Vietnamese forces. And last but not least, the Barrett 50. Cal. Sniper Rifle is currently allowing U.S. Forces to work against terrorism in foreign countries.
